I Can See For Miles II

From the summit of Mount Pleasant in Lancaster, Ohio I spotted the Columbus skyline faintly on the horizon.  Editing the photo, I worked to remove the atmospheric attenuation.  Given the irregular depth edges resulting from the hills, this was quite a challenge — it was always a struggle to penetrate the haze without blowing out closer features.  In the end I didn't quite get the contrast I wanted on the skyline, but it's still better than the original photo.

It's odd how much work it takes to replicate in a digital photo the zooming and contrast enhancements our own brains can do automatically when we're actually there…
