A cartogram illustrating the lane configurations of the freeways in downtown Columbus. Selected surface streets are shown, but without lane configuration detail. Numbered highway routes are colored, highlighting the "through" lanes on the freeways.
Accurate (mostly) from fall 2003 to summer 2011. Known errors are as follows:
Ramp from I-670 EB to I-71 NB: right lane ends before meeting I-71, and no merging is necessary. ODOT made this change in '07 or '08, after the map was produced.
Rich St - Main St Bridge: Bridge is two-way after reconstruction.
Town St Bridge: bridge was closed in 2008, and demolished in 2009. It is being replaced by a bridge linking Rich St on the east bank of the Scioto River to Town St on the west bank.
US-62 EB & OH-3 NB: Eastbound and Northbound half of route jogs south on Glenwood Ave (not shown) for one block to Rich St, then east one mile to OH-315, according to ODOT's Straight Line Diagrams. Signage in the field doesn't clearly indicate this.
US-62: Shown as a North-South route on the map; technically, it's an East-West route. Signage in the field varies.
18th St: "EIGHTEENTH AVE" on the map should actually read "EIGHTEENTH ST". The real 18th Ave is 3 miles north, near OSU campus.
As of 2011: Many permanent changes are occurring as part of the Columbus Crossroads projects. When all projects are complete, half of the Innerbelt will look noticeably different from this map.
